Your 8 Days / 7 Nights in Detail

Every day of your safari is planned around optimal wildlife timing — early mornings for predators, late afternoons for the Mara River, and midday rest when animals are least active. Your guide may adapt this itinerary based on daily wildlife intelligence.

Nairobi → Amboseli National Park

Depart Nairobi at 07:00 in your private 4×4. The 4-hour drive south via Namanga follows the ancient Maasai migration route along the Tanzanian border. As the acacia scrub opens into Amboseli's vast floodplain, Kilimanjaro dominates the horizon. Check in to your lodge for lunch. The 15:00 afternoon drive delivers the classic Amboseli experience: elephant herds wandering beneath Africa's highest peak, with the mountain bathed in late afternoon gold. Your guide introduces the resident elephant families and explains the extraordinary matriarchal social structure that Amboseli researchers have documented for 50 years.

Full Day Amboseli — Elephants, Lions & Sundowner Hill

A 05:30 sunrise drive positions you for the magic Kilimanjaro shot before cloud builds. Morning game drives focus on the predators that shadow the elephant herds — lions, cheetahs, and wild dog are all present. Optional Maasai village visit mid-morning. Afternoon: the Enkongo Narok swamp where buffalo herds of hundreds wade through papyrus, egrets ride on their backs, and hippo pods surface among the waterbirds. Sundowner drinks at Observation Hill with a 360-degree panorama of the entire ecosystem as the mountain turns pink.

Amboseli → Tsavo West National Park

An early 06:00 game drive makes the most of the final Amboseli morning. A full breakfast then departure by 10:00 heading east on the scenic road through the Chyulu Hills — themselves a national park of volcanic origin. Arrive Tsavo West lodge for lunch. Tsavo is Africa's largest national park system, split into East and West. Tsavo West is defined by dramatic volcanic landscapes: lava fields, the Shetani lava flow, the crystal springs of Mzima, and the famous mane-less Tsavo lions. An afternoon game drive into the volcanic terrain reveals a completely different ecosystem from Amboseli — arid, rugged, and wildly beautiful.

Tsavo West — Mzima Springs & Red Elephants

Tsavo's game is different from anywhere else in Kenya — the iconic "red elephants," stained rust-red by the park's laterite soil, the massive black rhino population, and a sense of primordial wildness that Tsavo has maintained for millennia. Morning game drive explores the open thornbush plains where lions hunt in daylight. Midday visit to the Mzima Springs — an extraordinary crystal-clear oasis fed by snowmelt from Kilimanjaro percolating through the lava field. Hippos, crocodiles, and countless fish are visible through the underwater viewing glass. Afternoon drive into the Ngulia Hills area where rhino sightings are most likely.

Tsavo → Lake Nakuru National Park (Rift Valley)

A longer transfer day — but an important one. Depart Tsavo after breakfast and drive north through Nairobi and up into the Great Rift Valley. The landscape transformation is dramatic: from Tsavo's arid red bush to the cool highland greenery surrounding Lake Nakuru. Check in to your lakeside lodge by late afternoon. A short evening game drive surveys the lake perimeter — and if the flamingo numbers are high, you will see why this is one of the most photographed wildlife spectacles in Africa: a pink shimmer that extends from shore to shore.

Lake Nakuru — Flamingos, Rhinos & Lions

Lake Nakuru National Park is a genuine Big Five destination — lions, leopards, buffalo, elephants, and both black and white rhino are all resident. The park is fenced, making rhino sightings more reliable here than almost anywhere else in Kenya. A full-day game drive circles the lake, visiting the flamingo colonies at the southern end (up to 2 million birds in peak season), the acacia forest where leopards rest by day, and the open grassland where lions and buffalo interact. Afternoon stop at the Makalia waterfall before a late evening return to the lodge.

Lake Nakuru → Masai Mara National Reserve

Final transfer day — and the anticipation is real. Depart after breakfast heading southwest on the spectacular road through Nakuru town, descending back into the Rift Valley and then climbing out onto the Mara escarpment. The first view of the Masai Mara from the escarpment ridge is one of Kenya's great moments: an endless golden plain rolling south toward Tanzania. Arrive at your tented camp for lunch. An afternoon game drive into the Mara delivers what the Mara always delivers: lions, cheetahs, elephants, enormous herds — and a guide bursting with seven days of accumulated knowledge about your interests and photography style.

Full Masai Mara Day + Farewell → Nairobi

The culmination of eight extraordinary days. An early 06:00 drive across the Masai Mara Reserve — your guide uses every connection and every piece of intelligence from the past week to find the defining wildlife encounter for your final morning. Many guests see their most remarkable sighting on this last day: a cheetah chase, a leopard kill, a lion family with cubs. Return to camp at 09:30 for a full breakfast. A brief rest, then departure at 11:30 — arriving Nairobi by approximately 17:00. Your guide will hand you a personalised wildlife checklist of every species you identified across all four parks, and a selection of journey highlights. Drop-off at your Nairobi hotel or JKIA.
