Kenya Safari Destinations
The Masai Mara. Amboseli. Tsavo. Samburu. Lake Nakuru. Five world-class wilderness areas — each with its own character, its own wildlife, its own reason to make the journey.
Masai Mara National Reserve
The Masai Mara is the standard by which all other safari destinations in Africa are measured. Covering 1,510 square kilometres of open savanna in southwest Kenya, it harbours one of the planet’s highest concentrations of large mammals — including the world’s most studied lion populations, resident cheetah coalitions, and shy leopards that our guides know by name.
From July to October, the Mara hosts the southern terminus of the Great Wildebeest Migration — when 1.5 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebra, and 500,000 Thomson’s gazelle cross the Mara River in the greatest wildlife spectacle on Earth. But the Mara delivers exceptional game viewing every single month of the year.
Amboseli National Park
Amboseli is defined by two things: its elephants and its mountain. The park hosts some of the largest and most studied elephant populations in Africa — families whose matriarchs have been documented by researchers for five decades. And above it all, the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest point, provides an impossibly dramatic backdrop that makes every photograph extraordinary.
Beyond elephants, Amboseli offers consistently excellent lion and cheetah sightings on its open plains, over 600 bird species in the Enkongo Narok swamp, and the unique Maasai cultural experience of a people who have lived in harmony with wildlife for centuries.
