Pick up from your Nairobi hotel, residence, or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Drive through the Great Rift Valley with a scenic stop for photographs before continuing toward the Masai Mara. Arrive in time for lunch, check in, and enjoy an afternoon game drive.

Expect your first encounters with plains game such as zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, gazelles, and buffaloes, with a good chance of spotting predators later in the day.

Full Day Game Drives in Masai Mara

Spend the day exploring different sectors of the reserve with morning and afternoon game drives. This is the best day for wildlife viewing, as you can cover more ground and follow recent sightings reported by guides.

Possible sightings:

• Lions and lion prides

• Leopards (often near riverine forests)

• Cheetahs on open plains

• Elephants and buffaloes

• Hippos and crocodiles along the Mara River

• Large herds of wildebeest and zebras

• Over 450 bird species

During migration months, you may visit sections of the Mara River where river crossings sometimes occur, though crossings cannot be guaranteed on any specific day.

Masai Mara to Nairobi

Enjoy breakfast and, depending on your departure schedule, a short morning game drive or relaxed camp check-out. Begin the drive back to Nairobi with stops as needed along the way. Arrive in the late afternoon or early evening and transfer to your hotel, residence, or the airport.
